Is there a way to get scratch like marks out of porcelain sinks
l set a pan down in my bathroom and the edge of it just happened to be
resting against the side of my really nice porcelain sink. After picking
the pan up, l noticed that there are a few inch or two long marks that
almost look like pencil in the sink.I've scrubbed at it with my nail and
some water and it does not appear to be helping any.Is there any product
or any method that l might be able to use to get this out? Thanks in
advance!!
Please, don't scrub at it with anything harsh, like Comet. That
will take away the surface gloss, & then you will have a real mess.
There is a reasonable chance that the marks may be traces of the metal
scraped onto the porcelain. There are white, spongy things for sale (Mr.
Clean is one brand; generic ones are also available) that are very good
for removing some stains. They're the only thing I know of to get pan marks off my porcelain sink. Be careful with them on softer surfaces, though. They will take the gloss off some plastics.
Not knowing at all if the sink is Porcelain,,, in a clay sense,
or an enamled cast iron, or steel, it could matter.
If it was fired Porcelain clay it is unlikely a pan would cause any
scratching, at least as you describe. I'd hope even an enamled steel sink
wouldn't scratch in just setting a pan down.
Depending on what the substance is have you tried some scouring powder brand? Obviously a finger nail and water haven't worked. Have you any cleansers at all?
